Vincent Calleva Obituary

             Vincent Calleva, Age 83 of Waltham, Aug 8, 2021. Loving father of Lisa O’Flynn & her husband Conleth and Michelle McGeoghean & her husband Patrick. Cherished ‘Papa’ to Brendan, Quentin, Malachy O’Flynn and Patrick, Jr., Kailey, Kevin, Sean and Connor McGeoghean. Dear brother of Marie Ratta, Angie Vanaria, John and the late Anthony & Sabatino Calleva. Long time partner to Ruth Shepard. Formerly married to and forever friend to Patricia Calleva.  Dear friend to Joey D'Avena & the late Gerry Orrino. 

            Vincent was a proud veteran of the United States Army, he passed away on August 8, 2021, after a long battle with Myelofibrosis/Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Vinny grew up in Watertown, Mass. He was born April 19, 1938, in Cambridge, Mass. He attended St. Patrick's School and was a graduate of Watertown High School in 1956. At the age of 18, Vinny enlisted in the Army. He valued this service highly and attained the rank of SP4-E4. As part of this service, he received a Marksman Rifle Medal, Sharpshooter Carbine Medal, and a Good Conduct Medal. After the service, Vincent received numerous master certifications in Mechanics.  He spent over 44 years as a master mechanic in Belmont Mass, working on Jeeps and others at Zarren Motors, which later turned over to Heritage Jeep, and Colonial Jeep. He spent his most relaxing days at the home he built in Alton Bay, New Hampshire. 

            Family and friends are welcome to come celebrate Vinny’s life by gathering for a Visitation Hour on Wednesday August 11, 2021 from 11AM - 12 noon in St. Patrick’s Church, 212 Main St., Watertown followed by a 12 noon Mass. Military Honors to follow outside the church. Burial private. Arrangements made by the Nardone Funeral Home, 373 Main St. Watertown.

             In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to 'The Lank Cancer Center in Needham, Attn: Kelly Wallace, Office of Philanthropy, 148 Chestnut Street, Needham, MA 02492. Please make checks payable to 'Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Needham' and include 'In Memory of Vincent Calleva' in the check memo line.  Gifts may also be made online at www.bidneedham.org/giving or by calling The Philanthropy Office at 781-453-3007.
