Stilianos Lazarakis, age 75 of Newton, passed away on January 13, 2024. Beloved husband of 49 years to Despina (Parisiadou) Lazarakis. Loving father of George Lazarakis & his wife Alyssa and Zoi Lazarakis & her wife Marisabel Lazarakis. Cherished 'Papou' to Alexander Stilianos Lazarakis, Dimitri Richardi, Jackson Lazarakis & Eliana Lazarakis. Dear brother of Constantina Perivolarakis and Ourania Thimhardy.
Stilianos was born in Athens Greece on December 25, 1948 to George Stilianos Lazarakis and Hariklia (Sarlis) Lazarakis. He met the love of his life (Despina) and they married in 1975. At that time he was a police officer and things in Greece were not great, socially, economically or politically. He was nervous to have anyone see his wife associating with a police officer. He feared for her safety. Finally it came to the point that he convinced Despina to pack up everything, leave their families behind take the leap and move to America, for the American dream. They first moved to Winthrop, MA and eventually settled in Newton, MA. Two years after making the journey to America Despina gave birth to their son George and four years later their daughter Zoi.
Stellio was an amazing husband, loving father and LIVED for his grandchildren. He tried his best to be at every football, basketball and baseball games for Alex and Jack. He would always help Dimitri construct and fix things around the house and for fun. He also religiously dropped off and picked up Eliana at preschool every single day. He was a stubborn old Greek who was set in his ways. Even if you had a more efficient and quicker way of doing something it would not have gone over too well. It had to be his way. He was extremely organized! Everything had its place and everything was labeled. All of his tools were meticulously maintained and in perfect order just where they belonged.
Stellio loved soccer and played it at a high level in his youth. He also loved the outdoors. He rarely said sorry but instead apologized with his actions in the days following two fold. He had a great sense of humor and a laugh that was contagious.
Stilianos Lazarakis will genuinely be missed by all who were blessed to have known him.
Stellio’s family wishes to thank all of the first responders at Newton Police Department and Fire also the staff at Newton Wellesley Hospital
