Salvatore Mastantuono, born February 5, 1941 (age 80) in Castellonorato (LT), Italy of Newton, MA and previously from Waltham and Watertown, passed away unexpectedly at Massachusetts General Hospital on January 21, 2022.

Son of the late Francesco and Elisabetta (Tomao) Mastantuono, he was the last surviving sibling of 7. Beloved husband of 52 years to Genoveffa (Simione) Mastantuono. Loving father of Franco and his wife Caroline (MacLean), Antonio and the late Fabio. Cherished ‘Nonno’ t0 Domenic. He leaves behind many nieces and nephews in America, Italy and Brazil.

He was a construction labor for over 45 years for Tony Gagliardi Construction, Fred Salvucci Corporation, J.A.J. Co. Inc. and others working on many well-known buildings throughout the state.

He enjoyed planting and tending to his garden full of fruits and vegetables, making homemade wine from his vineyard, curing sausage, soppressata and capocollo.

All may gather for visiting hours at Sacred Heart Church, 311 River Street Waltham, on Friday, January 28, 2022 from 9:30-10:30 AM followed by an 11 AM Funeral Mass. Burial to follow in Ridgelawn Cemetery in Waterown.

Member of the Watertown Sons & Daughters of Italy, Lodge Piave Fiume #1036 and the Waltham Labors’ Union #560.
