Roberta Macdonald Obituary

Born and raised in Allston MA, Roberta Margaret Kennally Macdonald has resided in both Watertown and Needham, as well as Canada and California. For 53 years she was married to James Robert Macdonald who passed away in January, 2022. Roberta is survived by her brother James Kennally Chine,(ME), her daughter Robyn Towner (Boston, MA), her son Christopher Macdonald and his wife, daughter-in-law Anne Macdonald (Chester, NH). She also leaves five beloved grandchildren: Alicia Towner, Mike Macdonald, Kevin Macdonald, Caitlyn Macdonald and Ryan Macdonald. Her great-grandson, Brody, was her pride. Along with devoted nephew Michael Kennally, great niece Jenna Kennally, and great nephews James Kennally and Jesse Fusco, Roberta was also well loved by many additional friends and family members. Finally, her precious dog Bella was her constant companion.
Roberta has always been described as a beautiful, refined, graceful woman. She could share a smile and a kind word with just about anybody.
She retired from many years of public service as the fire prevention clerk for the Watertown Fire Department.
Family has been the heart and soul of Roberta’s life. She married the love of her life, James Robert Macdonald, and together they created a happy, loving home for her family and friends. She was a loyal, faithful friend, wife, sister, mother, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother who would do anything she could for the people she loves. She and her husband frequently traveled to see her grandchildren’s sporting games and attended many other events. She made sure that her family wanted for nothing, always available to help in any way possible.
Roberta was a marvelous cook. Her Italian specialties were enormously enjoyed at dozens of family holidays and gatherings and her recipes are coveted and widely shared.
She and James traveled extensively. After retirement, they explored the country in their RV, wintering in Fort Myers, Florida and spending summers in New England. They knew how to enjoy life immensely and together shared that joy with the many people they met on their journeys.
Roberta will be profoundly missed by her family and friends.
The family will have a private memorial.

A Celebration of Roberta's Life will be held on Sunday November 12, 2023 from 2 to 6 PM at the Watertown Yacht Club, Watertown.
