Omaida 'Mayi' (Mendez) Medina

    Mrs. Omaida "Mayi" Medina, age 87, of Waltham, passed away Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at home where she lived with her loving family. She was born June 23, 1938, in San Antonio de Cabezas, Cuba, daughter of the late Andrea Miranda Mendez and Consuelo Mendez.  Mayi was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Andres Medina.

    Mayi leaves behind her dear son Andre Medina and his wife Maria from Waltham.  She was also a loving and devoted Abuela to her three grandsons, Andy Medina and his wife Kaitlyn, Nick Medina and his girlfriend Rachel Rzeznik, and Mike Medina and his fiancé Ally Toppi.  

‍    Mayi was the sister of Ofelia Diaz of Florida and Obdulio Mendez from New York.  She was predeceased by her siblings Gerardo Miranda, Aida Estevez, Elena Calzadilla, Teresa Pita, Osvaldo Mendez, and Olbehin Mendez.

   Family and friends are welcome to come celebrate Mayi's life by gathering for visiting hours in the Nardone Funeral Home, 373 Main St. Watertown, on Saturday August 23, 2025 from 9-11 AM followed by an 11 AM Funeral Home Service. Burial will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery.
