Michele Timperio passed away peacefully on September 18, 2026, at the age of 96,leaving behind a legacy rooted in family, hard work, generosity, and love. He was born on October 13, 1929, in Sant’ Eufemia a Maiella, Italy, a small mountain village that remained dear to him throughout every stage of his life. Michele was the oldest of five children born to Nicola and Maria Timperio. As the eldest, he learned responsibility at a young age and carried with him the values that would guide him for the rest of his life: perseverance, loyalty, faith in family, and pride in honest work. As a teenager, Michele left Italy and traveled to Venezuela in search of opportunity. That journey reflected the courage and determination that defined him. Far from home, he worked hard, learned resilience, and began building the life experience that would later shape him as a husband, father, grandfather, and friend. After returning to Sant’Eufemia a Maiella, Michele married Dorinda Pantalone in 1965. Not long after their marriage, the newlyweds boarded a ship bound for America, bringing with them hope, strength, and the dream of creating a better future together. They settled in Watertown, Massachusetts, where they found a home and raised their family.
Michele was a proud member of the Laborers’ Union Local 22. Through years of steady and demanding work, he provided for his family and formed friendships with those who respected his dedication and reliability. He approached his work with pride and believed deeply in doing a job well. His life was a testament to the dignity of labor and the importance of sacrifice for the people one loves. Outside of work, Michele found great happiness in the simple traditions that connected him to his Italian roots. Each summer, he tended his vegetable garden with care and determination, taking pride in every tomato, pepper, and plant he grew. Michele was also well known for making his own wine. He took great pride in offering it to family, friends, and neighbors, often insisting they enjoy a glass with him. Whether offering vegetables from his garden, a taste of his sauce, or a glass of his wine, Michele gave freely and proudly.
He enjoyed playing bocce with his friends at both the Italian American Club and the Sons of Italy Club in Watertown. These gatherings were a meaningful part of his life, giving him the chance to share laughter, friendly competition, and lasting camaraderie with the people he cared about. In his retirement years, Michele cherished returning to Sant’Eufemia a Maiella, the village he always called home. Those visits allowed him to reconnect with the land, people, language, and memories that shaped him. No matter how many years he spent in America, his heart remained tied to Italy and to the customs he lovingly passed on to his family. Above all, Michele’s greatest pride and joy was his family.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Dorinda; his children, Gino and Nandine Timperio of Canton, MA, Bob and Robbin Timperio of Long Beach, NY, and Mike and Monica Timperio of Watertown, MA; and his grandchildren, Jennifer, Michael, Cyla, Ella, Tyler and Brady Timperio. His family was the center of his life, and he found great happiness in watching it grow across generations. His memory will live on in every story told about him, every meal shared in his honor, every garden planted with care, and every family gathering filled with the traditions he treasured.
Family and friends are welcome to come celebrate Michele's life by gathering for a visitation hour in the Nardone Funeral Home, 373 Main St. Watertown on Tuesday September 22, 2026 from 10-11. Burial will be held privately by the family. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to the Alzheimer’s Association.
