Mary Lyons Obituary

            After a brief illness, Mary Floria Lyons of Watertown passed away on Friday, April 21, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.
           Mary was born in Lowell, MA, on September 28, 1948, and was the daughter of the late Manuel and Olive (Taylor) Floria. She was a graduate of Lowell High School. On April 20, 1985, Mary married William (Bill) Lyons, they just recently celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary. Mary and Bill have resided in Watertown during their many years together.
          Mary worked for Raytheon Company for 46 years until her retirement in 2008. Mary loved all sports and was a devout Patriots fan. As a youngster, she was a softball pitcher and, in her later years, became an avid bowler. Mary and Bill were active with the Watertown Yacht Club and enjoyed many summers boating on the Cape and Martha’s Vineyard.
          Mary’s grandchildren were her greatest joy. She took great pride in watching their cheerleading, volleyball, soccer, hockey and lacrosse and could be heard exuberantly cheering from the stands.Mary leaves behind her devoted husband Bill and stepchildren Daniel and Marybeth Lyons of Cazenovia, NY, and Douglas and Paula Lyons of Wayland, MA. She was the cherished grandmother of Douglas, Dominique, Isabelle, Lauren and Joseph Lyons, sister-in-law to Sheila Floria of Fitchburg, Ronald and Patty Lyons of Cape Canaveral, FL, aunt to Christine and
Timothy Smith of Utah, Timothy and Tiffany Floria, Lisa and Bill Gonzalaz, and cousin to Sheila Miller of Lowell, MA.
           Mary also leaves behind her besties of 70 years, Barbara Swan, Susan Eilenberger and Maryalice Burns, and many others who have meant so much to her during her life.
She was predeceased by her parents, Manuel and Olive Floria, and her two brothers, Manuel Floria (2015) and Edward Floria (2021) both of Fitchburg as well as her beloved dog Quincy.
          A special thank you to Maria Williams, who provided companionship and extraordinary care during a difficult time. We would also like to thank the staff at Mt. Auburn Hospital for their
compassionate care.
         A celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, June 4, at 11 AM in Ridgelawn Cemetery.
