Mary DiGiovine Obituary

Mary (Tamburrini) DiGiovine, was born on September 1, 1925 in Atina, Italy. She immigrated with her parents to Watertown, MA in 1939. Always a hard worker, she spent 58 years working assembly lines at factories in the area. There, she met the love of her life, Tony, in 1946. They married in 1947 and had 3 children: Anthony Jr. and his wife Paula, Linda (DiGiovine) Garrity and her husband Steven and the late Nancy (DiGiovine) Dunlop.  Later, she became the most wonderful grandmother to 7 grandchildren: Scott Dunlop and wife Kathryn of Dedham,  Jessica Dunlop of Watertown, Lauren DiGiovine and her wife Grace Hanley of North Billerica, Kimberly (DiGiovine) Nestor and her husband Ben of Attleboro, Nicholas DiGiovine and his wife Amy of Melrose, Anthony Garrity and his fiancee Jessica Grimes of Canton and Elise Garrity of Natick. She was like a second mother to Scott Dunlop and Jessica Dunlop. She passed on her love of cooking Italian foods to Lauren DiGiovine, Kimberly (DiGiovine) Nestor, and Nicholas DiGiovine. Anthony Garrity and Elise Garrity enjoyed spending summers with her, doing yard work and taking trips to Cape Cod. She never missed a special event in her grandchildren's lives and passed on her proud Italian heritage. She was thrilled to welcome 2 great granddaughters, Kaia Dunlop and Isabella Nestor. She is also the devoted aunt to Elsa Rossi, Maria Nardone and many other nieces and nephews

In later years, she enjoyed doing word searches, eating ice cream sundaes, and visiting the beach (on non-windy days!). She was always quick with a joke and smile. She loved spending time with her family, and spread laughter and love wherever she went. Most people she knew came to affectionately call her “Nana”. She proudly lived in the home that she and Tony built in Watertown, until a sudden illness.

A private graveside service will be held by the family.
