Marion (Bourne) Petkiewich

     Marion (Bourne) Petkiewich of Watertown, surrounded by her family, went home to be with the Lord on August 1, 2024. Beloved wife of the late Albert M. Petkiewich Jr., loving mother of Allison and her husband Alex Sousa of Middleboro, Daniel Petkiewich of Waltham, and cherished mother-in-law of Marie Petkiewich of Watertown. Grandmother of Hailey Newman, Jackson and Jameson Petkiewich all of Watertown. Sister of Elaine Lyons of Hanover, and the late Robert Bourne and David Bourne. Daughter of the late Wallace and Nola (MacKay) Bourne. Also survived by many sisters in law and loving nieces and nephews, who will continue to smile as they call her Auntie Ma.
    Although Marion grew up in Jamaica Plain, she raised her family in Watertown where she worked for many years in the Watertown Public Library’s Children’s Room. There the children affectionately called her "Marion the Librarian".
    Again, working with children, this time at the Cunniff Elementary School’s After School Program. There she was known as Miss Marion. Always providing a ready smile and kind words, encouraging all the children coming into and leaving the building.
    Marion loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. They would come in the door yelling for their “Neena”. She loved nothing more than impromptu cuddles with them.
     Some of Marion’s favorite times were summer vacations in Maine. She loved lighthouses and owned an extensive collection of lighthouse memorabilia. A trip to Maine would not be complete without a visit to Nubble Light.
     Auntie Mar loved holidays, especially Christmas. She was such a generous person; always knowing just the right gift or card for family and friends of which she had so many. She made the holidays special, making sure the decorations were in place and everyone’s favorite food was available; including a variety of candies, chocolate covered cherries, ribbon candy, and well, anything chocolate.
     She had a great love for music across many genres, dancing and singing along at all the weddings. Some of her favorite artists were Bruce Springsteen, Meatloaf, Three Dog Night, James Taylor, and the Traveling Willburys. She saw many of these artists in concert and could often be found dancing in the aisles or even in her kitchen with the radio blaring.
      Her joy for life, the smiles she shared everywhere she went and her singing to the oldies will be sorely missed.

     Family and friends are welcome to come celebrate Marion's life by gathering for visiting hours in the Nardone Funeral Home, 373 Main St. Watertown on Wednesday August 7, 2024 from 4-7 PM. On Saturday, September 14th, a memorial service will be held at 11:00am to celebrate Marion's joy and love of life at the Evangelical Baptist Church located at 23 Chapel St in Newton.  A reception will immediately follow the service. All who knew and loved Miss Marion are lovingly invited.
