Margot Burge

    Margot was born on March 17th, 2021 in Cambridge, MA and passed away on December 12th, 2025 in Belmont, MA.
    She loved to spend time outside, swim in her hot tub, and listen to birdsong. She also loved to cuddle and listen to music, especially Taylor Swift. Margot attended CASE Collaborative at the Davis School in Bedford, MA as a pre-school student for nearly 2 years, where she enjoyed interacting with other children, working with her teachers and therapists and going on field trips. She loved to go on adventures with her family and traveled around New England and to California, Florida, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Denmark, France and Spain. She even attended the 2024 Paris Paralympics.
    Margot suffered from a rare genetic condition caused by mutations in the SCN8A gene. She was non-ambulatory, non-verbal and legally blind. She spent many days at Boston Children’s Hospital and under the care of many wonderful doctors and nurses. In spite of the many challenges she faced, Margot was brave and resilient.  She expressed herself through a variety of sounds and facial expressions and had an infectious smile, forming strong connections with people around her. 
    Margot is survived by her parents, Madeleine Oudin and Christopher Burge, her sister Samantha Burge and brother Axel Burge, aunts and uncles Nicolas Oudin, Su Yi Lee, Sara Burge and Miguel Rodriguez, her grandparents Karen and Philippe Oudin, Mary Burge, Boyce Burge and Linda Lotspeich, her cousins Tate, Lea and Camille, and her long-time caregivers Arleen Kattel, Pam Kimera and Alex Beamud.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the SCN8A Epilepsy Research Fund at Tufts University, which will directly support her parents’ research into mechanisms of SCN8A and the development of new therapies for this disorder. ((LINK HERE))
