Madeline "Ann" (DiPietrantonio) Newbould

     Madeline A. Newbould (age 99) of Watertown, entered into eternal rest peacefully on Sunday morning within her home of 65 years. She was born on Christmas Eve 1925 in Watertown to the late Filomena and Felice DiPietrantonio.

     Madeline, better known as Ann or Angie to her friends was a hometown girl. She worked at the local Golden Cookie factory during WW II. This is where she met the love of her life, Edward. Madeline included a letter with her phone number and address in a box of cookies being sent out to sailors. Ed, the cook on a Coast Guard ship received the box of cookies and letter, and their journey began. He contacted her and after a six week courtship, became the man she would marry in 1945 for 76 years before he passed in 2021.

     Madeline “Ann” was happy to be a full time mother and loving wife. She enjoyed spending time with family, friends and her close neighbors. In the past few years, she loved visiting with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. One of her favorite pastimes, feeding the wild birds and watching them drink and splash in the birdbath on her deck, brought her joy. Madeline loved having flowers in and outside of her house, where there was always a vase filled with them. Her dog, Noel was always by her side.

     Madeline was preceded in death by her loving husband Edward and youngest daughter, Phyllis and her husband Daniel Tempesta. She leaves her other four children, Diane and her husband William Boulay, Edward Jr. and his wife Carol Newbould, Catherine and her husband David Newby, Patricia and her husband Brian Menton. Her grandchildren, Peter, Steven and Stacey Ronayne, Lauri Toohey, Edward III, Christopher, and David Newbould, Debra Smith, Paul and Robert MacNeil, Heather Marino, Scott and Mark Hughes, Jessica Volmer, Matthew, Patrick, and Timothy Menton. In addition, thirty-nine great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren. Sister of her late brother Tony and his late wife Pauline Dipietrantonio and also her brother Michael and his late wife Ann Dipeitrantonio.

     Family and friends are welcome to gather to celebrate Madeline’s life by gathering for Visiting hours in the Nardone Funeral Home, 373 Main St., Watertown on Friday February 14, 2025 from 9-11AM.
