Obituary

Joseph "Dennis" Gill, passed away Thursday March 17, 2022. Husband of his faithful and loving wife Donna (Bagarella). Father of Sean Gill & his wife Dinna and Shane Gill-Ange & her husband Joe. Stepfather of the late Cheryl M. Hall. Brother of Frances Gill. Grandfather of Hayden Whitehead, Connor Gill, Cole Whitehead and Brendan Gill. Great grandfather of Nylaa Rose.

Dennis was a retired Patrolman with the Watertown Police Department serving 27 years and later as a part-time Massachusetts Department Service Officer for the Disabled American Veterans. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Korea during the "Pueblo Incident" in 1968.  Dennis was proud to serve his country and community. Dennis was the past President of the Watertown Police Association, Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles. Until recent years, he was active in organized softball and Civil War Re-Enacting and was an extra in the Civil War movie "Gods and Generals" in which he told people "Staring myself and a cast of Thousands".  An avid Red Sox  fan, he always said that he and Donna's '15 minutes of fame' came when they were the first couple to be married (on the field) at Fenway Park in 2002 which gained both local and national TV coverage.

He would 'try anything once' as a result he parachuted, bungee jumped, parasailed, scuba and hard hat dived, whitewater rafted and once competed in a Judo Tournament in which he said he got his 'butt kicked'.

Family and friends are welcome to come celebrate Dennis' life by gathering for visiting hours in the Nardone Funeral Home, 373 Main St. Watertown on Tuesday from 4-7 PM and again on Wednesday at 9 AM followed by a 10 AM Funeral Mass in the Church of the Good Shepherd, 9 Russell Ave in Watertown. Burial to follow with Military and Police Honors in Ridgelawn Cemetery, Watertown. MASKS REQUIRED IN CHURCH.
