It is with sadness that our family announces the passing our patriarch, John Piantedosi. On July 18, 2026, John Piantedosi, age 76, passed away with his children at his side. John, often called “Johnny P.” was born in Cambridge Massachusetts, and was raised in Watertown MA. He was the son of the late Fioravante “Leo” and Louise Piantedosi and brother of the late Charlie Piantedosi.
After graduating from Watertown High School, Class of ‘67, John attended Newton College and the University of Massachusetts Boston. He began a career in the 70’s working at Boston City Hall for Mayor Kevin White and Joanne Prevost Anzalone. He then went on to work for Robert F. White Associates, a prominent government relations and lobbying firm.
John went on to further his career at the Massachusetts State House on Beacon Hill, working as the district coordinator for Senator Marc R. Pacheco (Former President pro tempore of the Senate) and the late former Senate Majority leader Frederick E. Berry. He later went on to work for the late James DiPaola at the Middlesex Sherriff’s Department, from where he retired.
John enjoyed the exciting life of greyhound racing, where he owned a business at Wonderland Park in Revere. He proudly raised several champion dogs and came in second in the Wonderland Derby.
Always the competitor, John loved playing all sports and took great pride in coaching both of his children. An avid cook, he enjoyed experimenting with recipes, excited to share each new dish with his friends and family. Whether in the car or his home, John could be heard singing along with his favorite music.
After retiring, John enjoyed traveling to and spending time in some of his favorite destinations with cherished friends and family in places such as Saratoga and throughout the west coast.
Always the family man, John shared special passions and bonds with each of his children; cooking, design, creativity and shopping with his daughter and sports and real estate with his son. In recent years, John found incredible joy with his grandson, Leonardo. Known as “grandpa” or “papa” John cherished his role as a grandfather, creating memories and sharing in wherever Leonardo’s new adventures took him.
John is survived by his son Jason, daughter Jenna , daughter-in-law Sarah, former wife Jill, grandson Leonardo, nephews Marc and Michael, niece Melissa and numerous friends that enriched his life.
Visitation and celebration of life will be held on Thursday, July 23 rd 2026 from 4:00 – 7:00 and Friday at 11:00 at Nardone Funeral Home located at 373 Main Street in Watertown Massachusetts. Burial will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Watertown, MA.
