John Joanou, age 93, of Belmont, passed away on July 30th, 2021 . Survived by his partner of 43 years Jean Morrow and her daughter Wynne. Predeceased by his father George, mother Elizabeth, brother James and sister Maria Callas. John was born and raised in Bridgeport, CT, where he and his family were active members of the Greek community. John served in the US Army Air Force and worked in education and administration and as Director of the African Mathematics Program for the Education Development Center. A passionate lover of books, he attended St. John’s College, Annapolis and taught “Great Books” seminars in NYC City High Schools. John will be remembered especially for his life-long compassion and support for underprivileged people everywhere.
Family and friends are welcome to come celebrate John's life on Saturday August 14, 2021 at 10 AM in the Cathedral Church of St. Paul, 138 Tremont St., Boston, open to public, COVID protocols in effect. Internment to follow with Military Honors at 12 NOON in Mt. Auburn Cemetery.
