Jesus “Jay” Lopez passed away on November 27, 2020. In his late teens, Jay set out from his hometown of Tucson, Arizona, to work in a restaurant in Nantucket. He stayed on in Massachusetts becoming a proud Patriots fan, adopting a Boston accent, and making many lifelong friends who became like family to him. He was a cook for many years and took great joy in feeding people, though he never thought Massachusetts food was ever spicy enough. He is survived by his brothers José and Robert “Pepe” Galvez, nieces Rosemary, Marisol, Florinda, and nephews Benjie and Nicolas. He was extremely proud of his grandnieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister Sylvia and her son Andy. Because of COVID, family will gather at a later date. Friends are asked to make donations in his name to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
