Jean M. Slattery (Niose), 90, of Tewksbury, formerly of Waltham, died peacefully on October 19, 2025 at home surrounded by her family. Born to parents Antonio Niose and Giovannina (Beninati) Niose. Jean was raised in Waltham and worked for Waltham Public Schools, and Raytheon Corp. for many years. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Family was the most important thing to her.
Jean is survived by her 3 daughters, Diane Johnston, Doreen Defina and her husband Richard, Darlene Connelly and her husband James, 7 grandchildren, Jessica (Stephen) Remick, Jimmy and Jared Connelly, Joseph (Flori) Defina and Stephen (Pei Qi) Defina, Nicole Johnston, and Kelly (Mark) Gaudreault, and 8 great-grandchildren, Andrew and Caroline Remick, Anthony Defina, Brayden, Aubree and Selena Johnston, and Daniella and Robert Gaudreault. She was predeceased by her loving and devoted husband of 63 years, Laurence J Slattery and granddaughter Jillian Connelly, her brothers Carmello and Domenic Niose and her sisters Angela Cain, Susan and Theresa Niose, sister in law Mary Niose and brother-in-law David Moore. Also survived by her 2 brothers Anthony Niose, John Niose (Frances) and her 2 sisters Joanne Moore and Elaine Johnson (David) and many loving nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her dedicated and treasured best friend Peggy Thornton, of Texas who has been her friend for over 70 years. Jean was always there to celebrate or lend support during difficult times. Sunday dinners and cookouts with family and friends were always a staple of her and Larry’s weekends. She also loved dancing with Larry and they went to dances wherever they could find one. Going to games watching grandchildren and great grandchildren play sports and other activities brought out the super fan in Jean and Larry. Playing board games or cards were also things she enjoyed with everyone. Her life revolved around her family and friends and that is what brought her the greatest joy.
Family and friends are welcome to come celebrate Jean's life by gathering for visiting hours in the Nardone Funeral Home, 373 Main St. Watertown on Thursday October 23, 2025 from 10-11 AM followed by an 11 AM Funeral Home Service. Burial will be in Grove Hill Cemetery, Waltham. In lieu of flowers please make donations in Jean's name to the charity of your choice.
