J. Scott Lord, age 76, of Dover, New Hampshire (formerly Norfolk, Massachusetts), passed away peacefully on October 11, 2025.
Scott was the beloved husband of Marian (Lishman) Lord, with whom he shared 40+ years of love, laughter, and partnership. He was a devoted father to Ben Lord and his wife Nami of Kula, Hawaii; Amy Zimbone and her husband Mike of Needham, Massachusetts; and Austin Lord and his wife Allison of Franklin, Massachusetts. Known affectionately as “Grumpy,” he was a proud grandfather to Kylie and Taz Lord, Owen Zimbone, and Charlie, Henry, and Madeline Lord. Scott is survived by his brother, Brian Lord, and his wife Nancy Cali, as well as his cherished niece, Juliana. He was predeceased by his parents, Nell and John Lord.
Scott will be remembered for his quick wit, steadfast integrity, booming voice, and the deep care he showed to all who knew him. He treasured the lifelong friendships he made at Pomfret School, Kenyon College, through his work, and at Franklin Country Club, where he spent many happy days on the golf course in his younger years. A passionate sports fan, Scott was a loyal supporter of the New York Giants, Boston Red Sox, and his beloved UConn Huskies. Above all, Scott valued connection: with family, friends, and the communities that shaped his life.
A private celebration of Scott’s life will be held on November 1st. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to Pomfret School (LINK HERE).
