Geraldine (Mazzola) Cimino

     Geraldine 'Gerri' (Mazzola) Cimino, a resident of Wellesley, passed away on April 21, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was married to the late Ugo Cimino and was a devoted mother to Ernest Cimino and his wife Marisa, Teresa Iodice and her husband Danny, William Cimino and his wife Lisa, Elizabeth “Lisa” Calderone and her husband Nicholas, and Gerald Cimino. Gerri was a cherished grandmother to 17 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings Donna Mazzola and Fran Cormier, and her brothers Daniel Mazzola and Joseph Mazzola & his wife Anne, her cousin and best friend Josephine Mazullo and Richard Grinley, the husband of her late sister Mary Grinley.

     Gerri met Ugo when she was just 15 years old, and they had a wonderful life together. They married on November 11, 1956, and began their family in the second-floor apartment of a 3-decker house in Somerville. Eventually, they moved to Fifield Street in Watertown, where they raised their five children.

     Despite facing many challenges in life, Gerri was always resilient and filled with love. When her parents passed away before she turned 25, she took in her youngest siblings, Fran and Joe, and provided them with a loving home. Gerri's love extended to her entire family, including her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws. She was also an active member of the Sons of Italy/Cornelia dei Gracchi Lodge. She held various offices, including the Past President, and organized many charitable events.

     Gerri's legacy will be remembered for her devotion to family. All who knew her will cherish her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love for her loved ones. Family and friends are welcome to visit and celebrate Gerri's life at the Nardone Funeral Home, 373 Main St. Watertown, on Friday April 26 from 4-7 PM and Saturday April 27 at 9 AM. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Patrick's Parish in Watertown at 10 AM, followed by burial at Newton Cemetery.
