Gerald (Jerry) Joseph Sweeney, age 53 of Waltham, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2024. Beloved son to Brenda Ann (Napolitano) Sweeney and her late significant other Anthony Cucinotta. Loving brother of Denise Marie Sweeney and cherished uncle to Brandon Robert Reed & Cassidy Nicole Reed. "Own brother-in-law to David Reed"
Jerry was a graduate of Arlington High School, an active participant in the Special Olympics (recipient of many 1st. place ribbons) held at Fenway Park and worked in the Redemption Center in Waltham at a very young age. He also attended Walnut Street Center Workshop where he was responsible for assembly work. Jerry found joy and happiness in simple activities such as returning bottles and cans for recycling to Hannaford Supermarket. He enjoyed watching the Harry Potter, Star Wars and Spider Man series and was a fan of the WWE Smackdown. You could find Jerry spending time in his office writing in journal after journal with his special pens. Family and friends know Jerry's passion for music and dance, he could always be found on the dance floor at weddings and parties.
Jerry was a dedicated and proud son, brother and uncle - to know him was to love him as he brought a smile to everyone through his keen sense of humor and contagious laugh.
Jerry passed peacefully in his sleep with his mother and friends by his side after months of battling illnesses eventually succumbing to Alzheimer's. He will be missed by his mother who cared for him in his entirety and opened all doors of opportunity providing a wonderful, blessed full life for Jerry.
Family and friends are welcome to come celebrate Gerald's life by gathering for visiting hours in the Nardone Funeral Home, 373 Main St. Watertown on Wednesday January 31, 2024 from 4-7 PM and again on Thursday at 11 AM followed by a 12 Noon Funeral Mass in St. Patrick's Church, 212 Main St. Watertown.
