George D'Agostino Obituary

             George D'Agostino, age 88, of Watertown, passed away on May 20, 2022. Beloved husband to the late Silvana (Tirabassi) D’Agostino. Loving father of Marie Lanzo & her husband Michael III and Joseph D’Agostino & his wife Katherine. Cherished ‘Baba’ to Michael IV & Nicole Lanzo and Elizabeth, Joseph Jr. & Samantha D’Agostino and the late Anthony Lanzo. Dear brother of Jeanne Iodice & the late Domenic D’Agostino and also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. George was the son of the late Joseph & Viola (DiGiacomandrea) D'Agostino. 

               George was a graduate of Watertown High School in 1953. Once graduating he enlisted in the Army in 1954. He spent 12 weeks in basic training in Ft. Dicks NJ and 12 weeks in Ft. Leonardwood MO as a tank trainer. After his training he was shipped overseas in Baumholder, Germany and spent the next 3 years as a truck driver hauling gasoline.  After serving his time overseas he met the love of his life and got married in Italy and together him and Silvana came back to Watertown and settled to start their family. George worked at Manning Maxwell & More and the Watertown DPW where he retired in 1992. 

              Family and friends are welcome to come gather to celebrate George’s life by gathering for visiting hours on Sunday from 2-5 PM and again on Monday at 8:30 AM followed by 9:30 AM Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church in Watertown. Burial to follow with Military Honors in Ridgelawn Cemetery.
