Dorothy Adamo

     On July 6, 2026, Dorothy “Dottie” Frances Adamo went to be with her Lord and Savior after a long, full, and happy life of 99 years. She will be remembered for her faith, creativity, warmth, and deep devotion to the family and friends she loved.
     Born in Boston and raised in Medford, Massachusetts, Dottie was the daughter of George E. Knight and Alberta Baker Knight. She graduated from Medford High School and Providence Bible College in Barrington, Rhode Island. She was predeceased by her husband, Antonino “Nino” Adamo, to whom she was married for 18 years until his passing in 1976. Together, they made their home in Watertown, Massachusetts. Dottie was a devoted mother to Carol (Lettiere) Synal and her husband, Dennis Synal, of North Aurora, Illinois, and to Cathy Bergin August, deceased, of Watertown. She was the sister of George Knight, Robert Knight, Richard Knight, Gladys Deluca, Gloria Jeffery, Evelyn Aloupis, and Arlene Murphy.
     Dorothy was the beloved grandmother of Michael Lettiere and Joseph Lettiere of Illinois, Kenny Bergin of Watertown, and Jimmy August of Holliston, and she was blessed with seven great- grandchildren. Dottie was a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews across Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and California, all of whom held her near and dear.

     Dottie will be remembered for the cakes she decorated, the greeting cards she designed on her computer, and the joy she found in learning new things. She loved spending time with her longtime friend, Louis Marotta, who taught her how to operate a CB radio and encouraged her to earn a ham radio license. They enjoyed attending church together every Sunday, with Open Door Baptist Church in Belmont, Massachusetts, becoming their last place of worship.
    Dottie’s creativity and tech-savvy nature extended far beyond the CB radio. She was a pioneer of digital literacy in her family, mastering word processing for her work at Honeywell before eagerly adopting home PCs and webcams. Dottie loved chatting via webcam late into the night with her sister, Evelyn. Together, they would share details of their daily routines and playfully act as each other's tech support while navigating the exciting new frontiers of technology.
     After selling her home for over 40 years, Dottie moved to the Warren Street apartments in Watertown, where she enjoyed the friendship of many wonderful residents. At 95 years old, she moved to a nursing facility in Methuen to be near relatives. In June 2024, she made her final move to a nursing facility in North Aurora, Illinois, to be near her daughter, Carol. After many years of living in different states, Carol and Dottie were grateful to spend time together nearly every day.
    Her life was marked by faith, resilience, creativity, and love, and she leaves behind a legacy that will be treasured by all who knew her.
     A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at Nardone Funeral Home in Watertown on Thursday, August 27 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
