Obituary

          Charles “Chuck” Mack Marshall, age 74 died Tuesday August 1, 2023, at Mount Auburn Hospital after a short-term illness. He was pre-deceased by his wife Claudette Marshall (2007) and brother Timothy Marshall (1993) and leaves 2 brothers, Steve Marshall of Swanton, VT and Terry Marshall of Memphis, TN; 3 nieces and 1 nephew; and a son Scott Marshall of Watertown with wife Paola Badillo Samperio and two beloved granddaughters, Amara and Luna.
         He was born in Burlington, VT. Chuck graduated from Burlington VT High School, received a BS degree in Mathematics from Castleton State College and a MS in Computer and Information Science/Artificial Intelligence from University of Massachusetts Amherst. After spending time in  Brockton, MA, Chuck settled in North Brookfield, MA to raise his family.

       During his career, Chuck was at the forefront of Artificial Intelligence and Expert System Designs while working for such companies as Electronics Corporation of America, Manufacturers Business Systems, and Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC), where he was the Principal Software Engineer in the Artificial Intelligence Group. After his time at DEC, Chuck worked 19 years at Knowledge Based Systems, Inc. on multiple projects for the Department of Defense, spending time in Corpus Christi, TX, Huntsville, AL, Oklahoma City, OK, and College Station, TX.
         Chuck returned to North Brookfield, MA upon his retirement in 2014 and subsequently moved to Newport, TN in 2022 where he lived in a Tiny Home for 15 months before returning to Massachusetts to be closer to his son and granddaughters after an illness.
        An avid reader of Science Fiction & Fantasy literature, Chuck could be found perusing used bookstores as well as playing with personal mobile technology.


At his wish, Chuck will be cremated, and a memorial service will be held later. The family requests that
instead of flowers, donations be made to the charity of your choice as he has requested.
