Anthony 'Tony' DeAngelis

    Tony DeAngelis, age 74, died on Monday February 10, 2025.  A lifelong resident of Watertown, he passed away peacefully nearly a year after his wife of 52 years, Mary Ellen “Gig” DeAngelis. Devoted father to Kristen DeAngelis of Amherst, Massachusetts, and her husband Jacob Mayfield; Matthew DeAngelis of Churchton, Maryland, and his wife Lindsay DeAngelis; and Rachael DeAngelis of Worcester, Massachusetts. He was also the beloved Papa to grandchildren Alex, Michael, Olivia, Lola, Ramona, Dominic, and Ian. He was a dear brother to Mary Fawley, Gloria Grande, Eleanor Del Raso, Joe DeAngelis, John DeAngelis, and Carmen DeAngelis.

    Tony met Mary Ellen at Watertown High school, where they both graduated in 1969. They were married on September 19, 1971 at Sacred Heart Church in Watertown, and raised three children in Watertown. Tony worked as a nurse at Mount Auburn Hospital for almost 50 years, having started working in the laundry room as a teenager. He later became a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist after graduating from Tufts University in 1990, and was beloved by the nurses, doctors, and patients alike. He was also a great cook and a skilled craftsman, and he was known for his extensive renovations on their beautiful house and impeccable yard. He loved to travel with his wife Mary Ellen, and they were able to visit many places, including big trips like Croatia, Italy, Bermuda, Aruba, France, and Ireland, smaller trips to Rockport with “the Rockport Crowd,” and our annual family trips to Horseneck Beach. He loved being a father and husband more than anything, and his loss will be felt by the whole family.

    Tony will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and the many members of our community whose lives he touched. Family and Friends are welcome to come celebrate Tony’s life by gathering at the Nardone Funeral Home, 373 Main Street in Watertown on Wednesday February 12th for visiting hours from 4 to 7 pm, on Thursday February 13th at 11 am for a funeral home service, followed by burial in St. Patrick’s Cemetery on Belmont Street in Watertown.
