Salvatore 'Salvi' Cannistraro, age 82 was a long time resident of Waltham, He was born in Aragona, Sicily to Michaelangelo and Emanuela (Tascone) Cannistraro. Salvatore immigrated to the United States from Italy as a skilled brick layer and stone mason. He later founded 'Salvi Cannistraro & Son Contracting.'
Salvatore was the beloved husband of the late Constance 'Connie' (Leone) Cannistraro. Loving father of Michael A. Cannistraro of Framingham and Anna M. Porter and her husband Mark of Waltham. Devoted Papa of Evan & Ryan Porter. Dear brother of Carmelo Cannistraro and the late Giusepina Sciascia, Giovanna La Mendola, Rosario Cannistraro and Antonio Cannistraro.
Salvi was well known to many as a family man. He loved his wife, children, grandchildren and friends. He enjoyed playing cards, spending time at his social clubs, watching old westerns, was an avid traveler and above all, he enjoyed delicious food and family meals. Salvi had a great personality, an infectious smile and he took tremendous pride in everything that he did.
Calling hours for family and friends will take place on Monday from 4-7 pm in the Nardone Funeral Home, 373 Main St. Watertown. All may gather on Tuesday March 27, 2018 at 9:30 AM in the funeral home for a brief visitation and will be followed by a 10:30 am Funeral Mass in Our Lady’s Help of Christians Parish in Newton. Burial will follow in Newton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
