Robert Doria

The family of Robert W.  Doria are saddened to announce his death on June 20, 2016. Beloved son of Rose Riccio Doria and William Vito Doria, Robert was born in Boston, Mass. on Jan. 18, 1939. In 1951, the family moved to Waltham Mass. where Robert attended high school, graduating in 1957. Following high school, Robert served in the Mass. National Guard, attended hair stylist school and was proprietor for many years of two hair salons,  SNIP, in Belmont and the Watertown Mall. In 2002, Robert retired and moved to Silver Spring, MD, joining 3 of his 4 sisters who were then living in MD. Robert was a lover of animals, and especially his companion animals, Spooney and Guinness. He was generous to a fault, always willing to help others. His passion was history and art, both of which were of great benefit to his family during a trips to Italy, Turkey, and Greece with his sisters after he retired. Robert is survived by his sisters, Elizabeth Doria of Littleton, Judith Sudduth of Manchester, Joyce Doria of Bethesda, MD. , and Marilyn Doria Shaw of Madison, Ct., also his nieces, Nicole Sudduth Hamilton of  Waterford. Va. And Stephanie Shaw of Boston, Mass., also his nephews, Daniel Falter of Athol, Mass. and Doug Falter of Ashby.  His last two surviving aunts are Lena Riccio Hartman of Weymouth, Mass & Clementine Basile Doria of Watertown and Naples FL. Funeral arrangements are with Nardone's in Watertown, Mass. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 3-5 PM, in the Nardone Funeral Home, 373 Main St. Watertown. All may gather at St. Jude’s Church in Waltham at 10:30 on Monday for a funeral mass. Burial in Ridgelawn Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations to the International Fund for Animals in Robert's name would be appreciated.
