Joan (Zengo) Akerberg

             Joan A. (Born Zengo, formerly Timmins) Akerberg, age 78, passed August 16, 2017. Best known as "Grammy" to her six grandchildren, Joan was a source of love, support, and great food for 78 years. Her family will miss her wit and warmth, and her love and care for the people around her.

            Joan is survived by her five children, Joseph Timmins and his wife Debra, James Timmins and his wife Patricia, Jeffrey Timmins, Christina Akerberg, and Carol Chaisson and her husband Michael, and her six grandchildren, Christopher, Madison, Kayla, James, Kelsey, and Benjamin. She was a long-time member of the Cornelia del Gracchi Lodge of Watertown, where she enjoyed playing Bocce with friends.

           She is pre-deceased by her husband Richard Akerberg and sister Marie Fantasia.

           Visiting hours will be held at the Nardone Funeral Home, 373 Main Street, Watertown, from 2 to 6 PM on Sunday, August 20; service 11:00 AM on Monday, August 21, burial to follow in Ridgelawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Caregroup Parmenter Home Care and Hospice.
