Grazia Puleo Obituary

Grazia (Mazzeo) Puleo, age 90 of Watertown, was born in Messina, Sicily on Valentine’s Day 1928 and passed away peacefully on February 16, 2018, at home, with her family around her. Beloved wife of the late Antonino 'Nino' Puleo. Loving mother of Pasquale Puleo & his wife Consiglia of Watertown, Joe Puleo & his wife Sefy of Italy, Domenica Puleo of Watertown, Maria Medina & her husband Andre of Waltham and Robert Puleo of Watertown. Devoted Nonna to Graziella, Antonio, Davide, Andre, Nicolas & Michael and great-grandmother to Antonio Pasquale.

Grazia was the heart and soul of her family. She always had a smile on her face and something cooking in the kitchen.  Grazia was a seamstress In Italy and, in the United States, she worked at Honeywell until she retired in 1991. After retiring, Grazia, not only took care of her grandchildren but, continued to care for infants in a local day care center. She also had the joy of caring for her great-grandson.

An essential love of her life, besides her husband and family, was gardening. She could make any plant grow.  Along with her husband, Nino, Grazia had a home and garden filled with flowers, vegetables and trees that were a personal pride and neighborhood admiration. She travelled often with her husband, friends and family to Italy, but also to Spain, Morocco, Greece and Hawaii until Nino’s death in 2002.

Everyone she met loved her.  The adults called her “Ma” and the children all called her ‘Nonna.’   She naturally drew people towards her and everyone who entered her home was treated like family.  She will be missed by all and we will remember Grazia for the unconditional love that touched everyone that met her.

Funeral from the Nardone Funeral Home, 373 Main St. Watertown on Thursday at 8 AM followed by a 9 AM Funeral Mass in St. Luke’s Church in Belmont. Burial in St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Visiting hours Wednesday 4-7 PM.
