Diane (Santasky) Patterson, a longtime resident of Waltham, passed away on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 peacefully at her home surrounded by family and loved ones at the age of 64.

Diane grew up in Brighton, the youngest daughter of Hazel and Stanley Santasky.  As a child, she excelled in school and was often favored as the "teacher's pet" until she graduated from Brighton High School in 1971.

She started her career working for companies like Apple Computer and built her family. By 1980, she had her "one of each" - both a daughter and a son, and by 1983 had settled in Waltham and eventually became a teacher's assistant at the Plympton School before finding her long-term career as a medical secretary at the Waltham Hospital's Medical Building.

In her recent years, she enjoyed dining out and spending time catching up with family and friends. She loved to head up to the White Mountains in New Hampshire or down to Cape Cod to visit family.

Diane had a deep love for her grandchildren, with a particularly special bond with her eldest granddaughter Brenna. She was thrilled to spend lots of time in recent weeks with her and her other two grandchildren, Grace and Cole. Just before her passing, she learned of a new addition to the family - a granddaughter coming in February 2018 from her son Jeffrey.

In addition to her grandchildren, she leaves behind many loved ones: Her daughter, Julie D'Angelo and her husband Anthony, of Burlington, Her son, Jeffrey and his fiancée Cassandra, of Plymouth. Her sister, Nancy Dhoku and her husband Dennis, formerly of Watertown. Her longtime companion, or S.O. (her affectionate abbreviation for Significant Other), David Cobbett of Waltham. Many nieces, great nieces, great nephews, aunts and uncles, cousins and close friends.

Funeral from the Nardone Funeral Home, 373 Main St., Watertown, on Monday August 14th at 9 AM followed by a 10 AM Funeral Mass in Our Lady's Comforter of the Afflicted Parish, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham. Burial will be private.  Visiting hours will be held on Sunday August 13th from 3 to 7 PM.

Having been a longtime supporter of many charitable organizations, Diane took a special interest in the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
